What day of the week and month is best to buy a car?

I've heard the end of the month is best because salespeople need to hit quotas. Is that real? Is there also a best day of the week? I'm flexible on timing and want to maximize my negotiating position.

Yes, end of month is real - especially the LAST DAY of the month. Salespeople and managers have monthly quotas. If they're close to a tier bonus, they might take a deal they'd refuse on the 5th. Day of week: weekday mornings (especially Tuesday-Wednesday) when the showroom is empty. Avoid Saturdays - they're busy and salespeople won't spend as much time negotiating because there's another customer waiting. Also: end of calendar quarter (March, June, September, December) and end of model year (August-October) when new models arrive.

Year-end (late December) can be great for current model year cars - dealers want them gone before January. But inventory is picked over by then. Best balance: last day of a mid-month month where the weather is bad. Rainy Tuesday on the 30th? That's your day.
